Four men accused of planning to join militants training in Afghanistan to kill Americans have pleaded not guilty in a California court.
A judge in the city of Riverside on December 19 set a tentative trial date in August.
Prosecutors accuse one of the suspects, Afghan-born Sohiel Omar Kabir, 35, of encouraging the other three defendants to join him in Afghanistan to train for violent anti-American jihad.
Kabir was captured in Afghanistan last month, while the other three were arrested shortly before allegedly planning to leave California for Afghanistan.
Each of the four is accused of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.
Defense lawyers have suggested the four may have been entrapped by U.S. agents who paid an informant.
