The former mayor of Uzbekistan's southern border city of Termiz has been sentenced to 11 years in prison on corruption charges. The Termiz City Court sentenced Isroil Khudoiberdiev on July 27 after finding him guilty of embezzlement, abuse of power, bribery, and money laundering. Khudoiberdiev was sacked from the post after he was arrested in September 2022. He had served as the mayor of Termiz since 2017.
