The European association of air traffic controllers says ash clouds appear to be dissipating quickly due to reduced activity from Iceland's Grimsvotn volcano.
Brian Flynn, head of network operations for Brussels-based Eurocontrol, said the agency expected about 700 flights to be cancelled on May 25, mostly due to volcanic ash clouds over northern Germany.
Nonetheless, he said air traffic could be back to normal on May 26 due to Grimsvotn's reduced activity.
Sigthrudur Armannsdottir, a geologist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, says there has been no activity at Grimsvotn since early on May 25 and the ash plume has almost disappeared.
