A court in Kazan, Russia, has extended the pretrial detention of RFE/RL journalist Alsu Kurmasheva until August 5 and rejected a request to move her to house arrest. At the May 31 hearing, she spoke about receiving inadequate medical care and being denied the chance to speak to her children.
