Suicide Car Bombs Kill At Least 14 In Iraq

23 October 2004 (RFE/RL) -- Iraqi police say at least 14 people were killed in separate suicide car bomb attacks today.

The first blast occurred in the western town of Baghdadi, some 200 kilometers west of Baghdad, killing at least 10 policemen and wounding as many as 40 others.

The attack took place at a base used by U.S. troops and Iraqi national guardsmen, that also hosts a police training center.

Hours later, a second suicide car bomb attack targeted a checkpoint manned by Iraqi national guardsmen just south of Samarra. Police say four guardsmen were killed and another six wounded in the blast.
