Yushchenko To Visit White House Next Month

11 March 2005 -- Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is scheduled to visit Washington early next month.

The White House said today that President George W. Bush will host Yushchenko at a working lunch on 4 April.

It will be Yushchenko's first visit to the United States as president.

Earlier today, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Boris Tarasyuk, himself on a visit to Washington, said Ukraine is seeking a "truly strategic partnership" with the United States.

He also said Ukraine is hoping to pursue European and Euro-Atlantic integration and at the same time maintain what he said is a "friendly, neighborly" relationship with Russia.
