Russian Peacekeeper, Georgian Policemen Injured


17 June 2005 (RFE/RL) -- A mine blast seriously wounded a Russian peacekeeper today in Georgia's separatist region of South Ossetia.

At least two Georgian policemen were also injured in the blast.

The men were part of a joint patrol looking for an ethnic Georgian villager who went missing two days ago.

The incident occurred in a demilitarized area that is jointly monitored by Russia, Georgia, South Ossetia, and North Ossetia.
