Date Set For Kyrgyz Legislative By-Election

Bermet Akaeva (file photo) 25 July 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Kyrgyzstan's Central Election Commission announced today that a repeat election will be held on 18 September to fill the vacancy in the capital's No. 1 parliamentary constituency, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reported.

Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Court last month invalidated the victory of Bermet Akaeva -- daughter of deposed President Askar Akaev -- to parliament from the district.
