Sidorski Begins New Term As Belarusian Premier


Syarhey Sidorski (file photo) (AFP) April 17, 2006 -- Belarus's parliament reconfirmed Syarhey Sidorski as the country's prime minister today.


Sidorski had to step down in accordance with the constitution after President Alyaksandr Lukashenka was reelected for a third term in March.


Sidorski was re-nominated by Lukashenka and backed by 103 deputies in the 110-seat chamber.
