Bush Freezes Assets Of Al-Hariri Suspects

The late Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri (file photo) (epa) April 26, 2006 -- U.S. President George W. Bush has issued an order freezing the assets of everyone suspected in the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri.

The move comes a day after United Nations investigators interviewed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his deputy over Syria's alleged role in al-Hariri's assassination last year.

Senior Syrian and Lebanese intelligence officials have been implicated in the killing, but Syria has denied any involvement.

Meanwhile today, the United States said it will seek a UN Security Council resolution to highlight what it says is Syria's continued interference in Lebanon.
