Ex-CIA Officer Tried To Warn About Bad Intelligence

June 25, 2006 -- An article in today's "The Washington Post" quotes a former officer for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency as claiming he knew intelligence on Iraq's germ warfare program was not credible but his warnings were ignored.

Ex-CIA officer Tyler Drumheller said he knew information from an Iraqi defector code-named Curveball was unreliable.

Drumheller said he crossed out questionable information from Curveball, but it was included nonetheless in the February 5, 2003, statement from then Secretary of State Colin Powell to the UN Security Council.
