Three U.S. soldiers were killed and one wounded during an operation in Diyala Province, north of Baghdad.

A U.S. Marine died of wounds he received in fighting in the western province of Al-Anbar.

Another U.S. soldier was killed in northern Baghdad when his patrol was ambushed.

More than 60 U.S. soldiers have been killed in October. The U.S. military says the increase in deaths is due to more aggressive patrolling by U.S. forces in Iraq.
