Bush Says NATO Still Open To Georgia, Ukraine


U.S. President George W. Bush pictured on November 27 arriving in Latvia's neighbor Estonia (epa) November 28, 2006 -- U.S. President George W. Bush says NATO remains receptive to the idea of Georgia and Ukraine eventually joining the alliance.


Bush said "we will continue to support Georgia's desire to become a NATO member" and also said that membership "will be open to the Ukrainian people if they choose it."


He was speaking before the start of a two-day NATO summit in the Latvian capital, Riga.
