Opposition Activists Imprisoned In Belarus


Police break up a demonstration in support of Alyaksandr Kazulin on December 10 (Bymedia.net) December 11, 2006 -- Three activists from a Belarusian youth organization were reportedly today given sentences of up to two weeks for demonstrating in support of Alyaksandr Kazulin, a jailed opposition leader who has been on hunger strike since October 20.


Kazulin was jailed for five and a half years for organizing banned demonstrations against the reelection this March of President Alyaksandr Lukashenka in a vote that they say was fraudulent.
