Russia Criticizes U.S. Rights Report


A 2006 demonstration against racist violence in Russia (epa) March 9, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- The Russian Foreign Ministry says the U.S. State Department's latest human rights report is not objective.


Spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said the 2006 report, released on March 6, had a "biased, politicized, and confrontational character."


The report criticized Russia for centralizing power in the executive branch and warned of an erosion of government accountability.
