A Tupolev TU-134 (file photo) (ITAR-TASS) March 17, 2007 -- Seven people were killed and around 50 others were injured today when a passenger plane made an emergency landing in Russia.

The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry says the plane, a Tupolev Tu-134, made a crash landing at the airport in the city of Samara, about 1,100 kilometers east of Moscow.

Reports say the plane landed on its fuselage after its landing gear failed to come down. The injured passengers were taken to hospital.
