Kremlin Aide Says Putin, Bush Face Tough Summit


Bush and Putin at the Group of Eight summit in Germany earlier this month (official site) June 29, 2007 -- A top Kremlin adviser says Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President George W. Bush will discuss a range of hot-button issues when they meet at the Bush family home in Maine on July 1-2.

Putin foreign-policy adviser Sergei Prikhodko said Iran's nuclear activities, the future of the Serbian province of Kosovo, and U.S. plans to deploy elements of an antimissile system in Central Europe will top the summit's agenda.

Moscow and Washington have clashed on all three issues.
