Russia Marks Anniversary Of 'Kursk' Submarine Disaster


An icon framed with faces of sailors who died in Kursk disaster (file photo) (ITAR-TASS) August 12, 2007 -- Memorial services are being held today in several Russian cities to mark the seventh anniversary of the "Kursk" submarine disaster.


The "Kursk" sank on August 12, 2000, in the Barents Sea during naval maneuvers. All 118 crewmembers aboard died.


Ceremonies marking the anniversary are being held in Moscow and St. Petersburg and also by the Northern, Black Sea, Baltic, and Pacific fleets.
