Sofia, 9 April 1997 (RFE/RL) - Bulgaria is deferring a decision on a proposed pipeline between the Black Sea port of Bourgas and the Greek town of Alexandroupolis.
Building Industry Minister, Nikola Karadimov said on state television yesterday that the next government in Bulgaria should restart negotiations with Russia on the project. He said currently it is not clear how Bulgaria will benefit from the project.
The proposed pipeline would carry Russian petroleum, through Bulgaria, to Greece.
Bulgaria has an interim government until early elections are held later this month.
