The Arbaeen religious event marks the end of 40 days of mourning after the Ashura anniversary that commemorates the seventh century killing of the grandson of Prophet Mohammed, the revered Imam Hussein. Five young American men detained in Pakistan for alleged links to Islamist extremist groups swore their innocence on February 2, saying they were being "set up" and tortured in jail.
