Protesters Face Off With Riot Police In Yerevan
Hundreds of young protesters occupied Marshal Bagramian Avenue in central Yerevan street and confronted riot police late on September 11 in the latest protests over rising electricity prices in Armenia. The protesters accuse the Armenian government of reneging on its pledge to fully subsidize the price increase. No To Plunder, a youth group that organized the protest, argued that the temporary subsidy does not cover most businesses, and that households in some regions are also still affected by the rate increase.
