Law-enforcement authorities in Azerbaijan say a security operation is continuing in a troubled suburb of the capital, Baku, where seven people were killed last week. Village elders from Nardaran have called for talks with the authorities after a police raid in their community turned violent on November 26. They are also demanding the return of the bodies of four local Shi'ite Muslims who were killed in the violence. Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry said two police and four suspected militants were killed during a raid on a "criminal gang" that was planning terrorist attacks in the country.
