Furious Anti-Russia Protesters In Tbilisi Demand Speaker's Resignation, Clash With Police

Thousands of furious protesters have gathered outside the parliament building in Tbilisi after a Russian lawmaker occupied the speaker’s seat inside the legislature during a meeting of European parliamentarians representing Orthodox Christians. Shortly before midnight on June 20, the crowd tried to break through a line of police dressed in riot gear to enter the building. Clashes broke out as protesters tossed items at the officers, who pushed the crowds back.
