We want to tell you about some changes we’re making to improve our coverage of Afghanistan and Pakistan, two vitally important regions of RFE/RL’s vast coverage area.
On December 14, we launched separate pages on RFE/RL’s main English-language website for Radio Azadi and Radio Mashaal, our services for Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan's border regions, respectively.
This will allow us to sharpen our focus on Afghanistan. The special section page -- called Azadi -- is now home to all of our original reporting on Afghanistan, including exclusive videos from our network of reporters inside and outside the country.
Meanwhile, our coverage of Pakistan’s border areas can be found on our new Radio Mashaal section page.
On December 16, we will also launch The Azadi Briefing, which will replace The Gandhara Briefing. Written by Radio Azadi journalists, the new weekly newsletter will analyze the key issues in Afghanistan and explain why they matter.
With these changes, we are retiring the separate Gandhara website, which had been dedicated to RFE/RL’s unique reporting on Afghanistan and Pakistan since 2014.
Radio Azadi and Radio Mashaal serve millions of listeners and readers in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We hope these changes will make these services – and the brave reporting by their many journalists – more recognizable to an international, English-speaking audience, too.
As always, you can get in touch by e-mail if you have any questions or comments. Write to webteam@rferl.org.
Sincerely,
Frud Bezhan
