MAGAS, Ingushetia -- The leader of a group of militants suspected of carrying out two recent bomb attacks in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia was arrested today, RFE/RL's Echo of the Caucasus reports.
The man was identified by Ingushetian police as A. Gordanov, and he was detained in the Ingushetian town of Karabulak. A second man also suspected of being a member of Gordanov's group was arrested later in the neighboring Sunzha district.
Two police officers died and 13 were injured in two explosions on April 5 outside a police station in Karabulak. One of the explosions was carried out by
a suicide bomber.
