Injuries Reported In Severe Storms In Lviv


LVIV, Ukraine -- Torrential rain and hail storms have knocked down several trees in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, causing injuries, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.

The city's public transport system has ground to a partial halt. Trams and trolleybuses were not functioning at all as power cables were damaged by the storm.

The Lviv municipal department for emergency situations told journalists that the storm damaged the roof a building, severely injuring a 15-year-old girl, who was rushed to a hospital.

The heavy rain also caused a minibus to overturn. Two passengers were injured.

Heating stations in Lviv were not functioning, and the water supply to three districts has been cut.
