Iran has severely restricted the ability of foreign media to report from Tehran, necessitating a greater reliance on the reports of citizen journalists and impassioned listeners. E-mails and voicemails sent to Radio Farda on June 26:
I warn Mr. Mussavi and Mr. Karrubi, it is your holy duty to resist because everybody believes the election has been a fraud. What has happened to the votes of the Gonabadi dervishes and also the followers of Ayatollah Montazeri?
**
I wanted to talk to a state TV official [and ask], why do you show the clip of a Basiji being beaten by the people but do not you show the millions of people who have been brutally beaten by batons, electric batons, and tear gas?
**
I am Ali from Zayande Rud. I wanted to say, “Down with dictator." We are supporting the Iranian people until they can reach freedom.
**
I swear to God that Mr. Ahmadinejad is the legal president of Iran and this election has been the most lawful election in Iran. I want to ask Mr. Mussavi and Mr. Karrubi, you have served the country for long time, but what is important for you -- the position and power or the togetherness of the country?
**
I am from Bandar Abbas. I wanted to say that there has not been any fraud in this election because all candidates were represented on election day. But even if they are not happy with the result, they can use the legal process. They can be in touch with the Guardians Council. There is no necessity for crisis.
**
It is better to end this situation. It is not in our country's interest. Our country is in danger now. Security and stability are more important than the presidential election. The Guardians Council is not able to find a solution for this problem because they are considering it unilaterally, so it is the leader’s duty to find a solution according to his supreme power.
**
I want to talk to those who say this election has been legal, and Mr. Ahmadinejad did not commit fraud. You are not more accurate than the Guardians Council, which announced there has been a miscalculation of 3 million votes in 10 percent of ballot boxes. You cannot change public opinion about the fraud by leaving messages here on Radio Farda.
