'Refusniks' Hold Protest March In Minsk

Refusniks, or Belarusian politicians not allowed to travel abroad, held a march of protest in Minsk today.

Such prominent Belarusian opposition figures as Anatol Lyabedka, Zmitser Dashkevich, Mikhail Pashkevich, Anton Koipish, and others marched across Minsk's October Square to the Presidential Administration building and handed a statement to officials from the Presidential Office.

The letter stated that the ban on the men's travel abroad is politically motivated.

Lyabedka -- the leader of the United Civic Party -- told RFE/RL's Belarus Service that if the ban on the opposition politicians' travel abroad is not lifted their protest actions will be held regularly.
