MAKHACHKALA/NAZRAN, Russia -- Insurgents opened fire on a local policeman's car in Daghestan's Derbent district, wounding the man's two young children in the car, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
The children have been hospitalized.
In neighboring Ingushetia, one person was killed and another wounded in the Sunzhen district after their car was shot at by unknown attackers.
Late on June 16, a Russian soldier was wounded in a similar incident, when a military truck was attacked by a group of armed people near the Ingushetian village of Chemulga.
In Nazran, local police detained a group of alleged insurgents on June 17.
Ingushetian Interior Ministry officials said that those arrested were in possession of guns, ammunition, and explosives.
