MOSCOW -- A protest against a bill that would increase the powers of Russia's main domestic security service has been blocked by police who detained two demonstrators, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
The demonstrators, members of the Russian opposition Yabloko party, were attempting to gather signatures on June 30 in front of the State Duma in Moscow.
The bill, currently in the Duma, would give the Federal Security Service (FSB) the power to fine or detain people for breaking the law or "obstructing FSB investigations."
Yabloko members have announced they will continue on July 2 to collect signatures in opposition to the bill.
