U.S. Hands Over High-Profile Afghan Prison

U.S. forces has formally handed control of a military detention center adjacent to Bagram air base to Afghanistan’s government. The facility is being renamed the Afghan National Detention Facility at Parwan. The handover ceremony, overseen by Afghan Defense Minister Bismillah Mohammadi, took place after U.S. officials said they had received assurance from Kabul that detainees considered a threat would not be released.
