Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry says an officer and two conscripts have been killed in a mine explosion along the border with an Armenian-controlled region.
The ministry said in an April 8 statement that six other soldiers were injured in the April 7 blast in the Cabrayil district, part of which is controlled by Armenia. Two of the injured have been hospitalized.
The incident took place several days after an Azerbaijani officer and a local resident were injured in what Baku said was sniper fire from Armenia.
Last month, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his Armenian counterpart, Serzh Sarkisian, pledged to continue peace talks during a meeting in The Hague.
The two countries have been locked in a conflict over Azerbaijan's breakaway, mainly Armenian-populated region of Nagorno-Karabakh for many years. International diplomatic efforts have failed to settle the conflict.
