A baby has died in the Crimean city of Sevastopol after being attacked by a monkey that escaped from a small private zoo.
Russia's Interior Ministry said the 65-year-old owner of the zoo was cleaning the monkey's cage on July 10 when it ran away and jumped over a nearby fence.
Officials say the monkey attacked a month-and-half-old baby who was sleeping in a stroller in a neighboring yard.
The baby's parents were not able to save the child.
The monkey was later captured.
Charges against the zoo owner are reported to be pending.
Crimea was annexed by Russia in a controversial referendum in March.
On July 7, a monkey that escaped from a circus bit several passers-by in a park in Russia's city of Nizhnevartovsk.
