Bulgaria has arrested a Russian man on an arrest warrant issued by the United States, Russia's Consular General in Varna, Vladimir Klimanov, told Russian media.
Klimanov said on November 9 that the police in the Black Sea port arrested a man with dual Russian-Bulgarian citizenship, making known only his first name and a surname initial -- Aleksandr Zh.
Bulgarian media reports said on November 9 that the 38-year-old man is wanted in the United States for causing $7 million worth of damage to advertisement agencies.
According to the reports, the arrest warrant was issued by a court in New York.
The man will remain in custody pending a decision on his extradition to the United States.
According to the reports, the suspect has lived in Bulgaria for eight years and owns an apartment in Varna.
