Russian prison officials have reported that a cat was caught at a prison in the far northern Komi Republic during a bid to deliver two cell phones and chargers to prisoners.
In the announcement on June 3, officials said the cat was caught on May 31 with the contraband strapped to its body with tape.
According to the statement, this is the first time in the prison's history that a cat has been caught smuggling banned items into the facility.
Last year, officials said, guards intercepted a cell phone that was being smuggled into the prison hidden inside a Russian Orthodox icon.
