A defense lawyer for the alleged killer of former Russian Army Colonel Yury Budanov has been placed under investigation.
The spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, said on January 24 that lawyer Darya Trenina is suspected of bribing a witness in the high-profile case.
Yusup Temerkhanov, Budanov's alleged killer, went on trial last month.
He pleaded not guilty.
One of the key witnesses in the case retracted his previous statements at the trial, saying Budanov's killer was a blond.
Temerkhanov, an ethnic Chechen, has dark hair.
In 2003, Budanov was jailed for 10 years for the abduction and killing of a Chechen girl during Russia's war against separatists rebels in Chechnya.
He was released on parole in 2009.
Two years later, Budanov was shot dead in Moscow.
Two other defendants will be tried separately.
