Euro 2012 Co-Hosts Poland, Ukraine Lagging In Latest FIFA Rankings

The new national squad rankings by football's world governing body FIFA show reigning world and European champion Spain continues to hold on to the No. 1 spot.

The latest rankings show that Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine and Poland don't rate even among the Top 40 world teams -- with Ukraine coming in at 49th and Poland at 75th.

Despite their poor win-loss records, Poland and Ukraine are guaranteed berths among the 16 countries taking part in Euro 2012 because of their roles in hosting the tournament, which gets under way in Warsaw on June 8.

After Spain, the rest of FIFA's world Top 10 includes, in order, the Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay, Brazil, England, Portugal, Argentina, Italy, and Croatia.

Russia comes in at No. 12, after Denmark.
