Former Kosovar Prime Minister Bajram Rexhepi was laid to rest on August 22 in a funeral ceremony in his native village of Shipol, near Mitrovica in northern Kosovo.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including President Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, and other political figures.
Rexhepi, a surgeon by profession, died on August 21 in a hospital in Turkey where he had been treated after suffering a stroke in April. He was 63 years old.
Rexhepi, who was also the former mayor of the northern city of Mitrovica, was among the independence fighters in the 1998-99 war and afterward was deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, or PDK, created from former independence fighters.
He had withdrawn from politics in 2010.
