French voters have been going to the polls in the first round of the country's presidential election on April 23. Opinion polls suggest there will be a close race to qualify for the second round of the vote between far-right firebrand Marine Le Pen, centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron, conservative Francois Fillon, Jean-Luc Melenchon of the far-left, and the Socialist Party candidate Benoit Hamon.
