She Threw Paint On A Religious Icon Showing Stalin. Then A Mob Arrived.
When a religious icon with a panel depicting Soviet dictator Josef Stalin was unveiled in a Tbilisi cathedral, many Georgians took offense. One of them, Nata Peradze, threw blue paint on the painting and posted video of her protest on social media. Soon after, on January 10, an angry crowd surrounded her house, threatening to retaliate against her for defacing the religious image.
