Possible solutions to the conflict in Libya were sought at a Berlin summit on January 19. German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and several other international and regional leaders who came to the German capital to discuss the situation in the war-torn country. Libya was in the headlines recently after Turkey announced its plan to send troops to support the internationally recognized Libyan government against rebel leader Khalifa Haftar.
