At Least Seven Killed In Pakistan Attacks

Updated

At least seven people have been killed in attacks in northwestern Pakistan.

In the latest incident, a bomb attached to a motorcycle exploded in the Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunwa Province.

At least one person was killed, though some reports put the figure at three dead and more than a dozen others wounded.

The motorcycle was parked next to a police van when it blew up.

Provincial police chief Nasir Durani said the attack could be in retaliation for recent arrests of militants in the area.

Earlier, gunmen opened fire on a police van in Peshawar district, killing five police officers and one civilian.

Some 20 policemen were wounded in that attack.

The incidents occurred days after the Pakistani Taliban refused to extend a cease-fire that began on March 1.
