A series of car bombs in the Baghdad area have killed at least 16 people and wounded more than 50 others.
Six people were reported killed and more than 20 wounded near an army base in the town of Taji, some 25 kilometers north of Baghdad.
Iraqi authorities say a bomb at a market in the northern Baghdad neighborhood of Shuala killed at least five people and wounded 12.
About 30 kilometers south of the Iraqi capital in the town of Mahmudiyah, police say five people were killed and 14 people were wounded by a car bomb.
No one has claimed responsibility.
The bombings follow last week's violence when at least 88 people were killed in bombings and attacks around the country claimed by the terrorist group Al-Qaeda in Iraq.
