Suicide Car Bombers Kill 21 Iraqi Troops, Allied Militia North Of Fallujah


An Iraqi military official said at least 21 Iraqi soldiers and pro-government militia fighters were killed on July 24 by suicide car bombings that targeted military facilities in western Iraq, where the government is fighting Islamic State militants.

Germany’s dpa news agency reports that suspected IS suicide bombers rammed two military vehicles into army posts north of the IS-controlled city of Fallujah near Therthar Lake.

The Iraqi military official said 24 soldiers and allied Shiite militiamen, who are part of an umbrella group known as Popular Mobilization forces, were wounded in the attack.

No group immediately claimed responsibility.
