A spokesman for the Mayo Clinic, the prestigious U.S.-based medical facility, says Iraq's President Jalal Talabani has been admitted for "routine medical appointments" this week.
The disclosure comes after Talabani's personal doctor said the Iraqi president had undergone surgery in Germany that had gone well and that Talibani's health was "good and stable."
Talabani last visited the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for a checkup in May 2011.
He had heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in August 2008.
Reports said Talabani could be leaving the Mayo Clinic as early as March 15.
He is scheduled to host an Arab League Summit in Baghdad on March 29.
