Israel Releases Palestinian Prisoners In Goodwill Gesture
Twenty-six Palestinian prisoners released by Israel arrived in the West Bank city of Ramallah and the Gaza Strip early on August 14. The prisoners were freed as a goodwill gesture by Israel ahead of the resumption of U.S.-backed peace negotiations. The released prisoners had been charged with perpetrating deadly terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens. (Reuters)
