AQTOBE, Kazakhstan -- Kazakh police say a woman has been arrested in Kazakhstan’s northwestern city of Aqtobe for allegedly forcing teenage girls into prostitution.
Aqtobe Regional Police Department spokesman Almat Imanghaliev told RFE/RL that the woman was arrested after the parents of 14 local girls filed lawsuits against her, accusing her of forcing their children into a prostitution ring.
Police have identified the woman only by her first name, reported to be Sholpan.
Officials say the investigation is continuing.
