KAZAN, Russia -- The president of Russia's Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, has said that a Kazakh consulate would be opened soon in the Tatar capital, Kazan.
Minnikhanov made the statement in Kazan during a meeting with a visiting Kazakh delegation led by the chairman of Kazakhstan’s National Economic Chamber, Timur Kulibaev.
The two sides discussed bilateral economic cooperation in machine building, energy, and trade.
Kazakhstan has deep-rooted economic, historical, linguistic, and cultural ties with nearby Tatarstan.
