BISHKEK -- Supporters of the joint ruling Fatherland (Ata-Meken) party have demonstrated in the Kyrgyz capital to protest a parliamentary commission resolution blaming their party's leaders for looting during political unrest almost three years ago.
About 3,000 protesters gathered in front of the Kyrgyz parliament on February 13 to demand that the resolution be rescinded.
Last week, a parliamentary commission adopted the resolution on the looting during antigovernment protests that toppled President Kurmanbek Bakiev in April 2010.
Looters mainly targeted the property and possessions of Bakiev and his family, and several homes were burned.
The protesters say parliamentary deputies from other parties organized the looting and are now casting blame on Ata-Meken.
They demanded the intervention of President Almazbek Atambaev.
Ata-Meken, along with the Dignity (Ar-Namys) and Social Democratic parties, is a member of the ruling coalition.
