Pakistani education rights activist Malala Yousafzai, the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, has added another prestigious award to her collection of honors – a Grammy Award.
The children’s audio version of her book: “I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up For Education And Changed The World” was named Best Children’s Album at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
The audio book was narrated by Neela Vaswani, a literature professor who accepted the award on February 8 in Los Angeles.
Malala wrote the book together with Christina Lamb, a British war correspondent who has covered Afghanistan and Pakistan since the late 1980s.
It describes Malala’s struggle for girls’ education rights – including a failed 2012 assassination attempt against her by a Taliban militant shot her in the head as she rode a bus home from school in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.
In 2013, Time magazine named Malala as one of “The 100 Most Influential people In The World.”
She was the winner of Pakistan’s first National Youth Peace Prize and also won the 2013 Sakharov Prize For Freedom of Thought.
